Provide Access for Kids Summer Camp

When we heard that a mother of a Deaf child was paying out of pocket for interpreters at her Deaf child’s summer camp, we asked for permission to reach out to the summer camp directly to inform them of applicable laws.
Once the summer camp was educated about the Deaf child’s right to an interpreter, they were happy to hire us to staff the summer camp with interpreters.

OC Sign Language Interpreters staffed a 3 day conference at the Anaheim Convention Center. We successfully navigated all logistics surrounding coordinating with the Deaf participant so the event organizers could concentrate on their event knowing ADA accommodations were handled.

Fun fact: There were no Deaf people RSVP’d to this event. However, it is best practice to provide general access at public events, especially if they are recorded.
